It is probably not as famous or as long as the 18-day event of Kerrville Folk Festival, but the Kerrville Wine and Music Festival is also a top draw among music enthusiasts and wine lovers of the US. This festival first took shape in 1992. This festival is sometimes called the “Little Folk” after the more popular annual Kerrville Folk Festival in the spring/summer season. Held at the Quiet Valley Ranch, 9 km south of Kerrville, the Kerrville Wine and Music Festival focuseson trying out and tasting different varieties of Texas wines and beers. And of course, there are songs and songwriters to go with the drinks as music and wine make a heady combination.
The Kerrville Wine and Music Festival is a three-day annual affair held over the Labor Day weekend. It brings together campers, musicians, wine tasters, beer lovers, and holidayers. Apart from the get-togethers and musical concerts in the evenings, over Saturday and Sunday several wine seminars are held.
Currently, the event plays host to three 6-hour concerts in the evenings and two 2-hour concerts in the afternoons where talented musicians perform to a full gallery. Apart from the wine seminars held on Saturday and Sunday, wine is usually not available in the afternoons, but served to one and all in the evenings. During the evening musical concerts, the vintage winemakers who grow the liquor in and around Texas usually gather around in the wine booths and serve them to visitors. But non-drinkers of wine need not despair. There are also beers, smoothies, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages. And definitely lip-smacking food to go with all these – from barbeque to vegetarian platters. Everything from breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner is available in and around the festival site. Definitely a great place to unwind and have fun.
